About the Presenter: Top of page

Dr. Wyatt is actively involved in clinical care and clinical research in HIV-related kidney disease. Her research has focused on defining the epidemiology of kidney disease among HIV-infected individuals, including those with comorbid risk factors such as Hepatitis C co-infection and diabetes. She has established collaborations with several large HIV cohorts, and is the director of the clinical core of a longstanding P01 investigating the pathogenesis of HIV-associated nephropathy. She is also the PI of an R01 evaluating the renal safety of oral pre-exposure prophylaxis to prevent HIV infection.

At the completion of this educational session, learners will:
  • Identify HIV-infected individuals who are at higher risk for acute and chronic kidney disease or ART nephrotoxicity.
  • Understand the risk of nephrotoxicity and approaches to diagnosis and management in adults initiating therapy with TDF-containing ART or PrEP.
  • Describe recent advances in nephrology and ART that may impact the management of HIV-infected individuals with kidney disease.
