Monkeypox crashed into our communities earlier this year spreading like wildfire, especially in sexually active MSM. There were many diverse clinical presentations, so we have brought together a panel of NYC primary care providers to share their experiences in diagnosing this new sexually transmitted infection.
Learning Objectives:
At the completion of this educational session, participants will:
1. Be aware of the diverse signs and symptoms of monkeypox.
2. Understand that monkeypox may be asymptomatic.
3. Know the current up-to-date diagnosis, management, and prevention of monkeypox infection.

Our knowledge of, and clinical skills in diagnosis of, sexually transmitted infections are constantly evolving. It is critical that we are up to date on all of the STIs because patients often with more than one at a time. Culturally sensitive sexual histories and physical exams are critical for early diagnosis and treatment for interrupting chains of transmission in the communities that we serve. Learning Objectives:
At the completion of this educational session, participants will:
1. Understand STI screening and treatment updates per the 2021 Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) STI Treatment Guidelines.
2. Be able to discuss the diagnosis and management of bacterial STIs, gonorrhea, chlamydia and syphilis.
3. Know how to explain the diagnosis and management of viral STIs, anogenital herpes and human papillomavirus.
4. Appreciate the disease morbidity of extragenital STIs among people living with HIV.
